Background

Born in Queens, NY and raised in Orlando, FL, I now live in Raleigh, NC with my husband Frank. In a few months we will be "empty-nesting" as the last of our three children (a boy and two girls) is off to college!

The birth of each of my children was very different and unique, but most importantly very special. Meeting my children for the first time is in my memory as if it happened yesterday.

In 1989, I became interested in teaching Bradley Classes after the method worked so well for the birth of our second child Erika, and by 1990 I was certified. During those first few years of teaching I was invited to a few births, (this was before the term birth doula was known) and I fell in love with the idea of providing continuous support to families during childbirth. In 1996, a year after moving to Raleigh, I began to hear the word Birth Doula attached to what I knew I enjoyed. I signed up for the DONA training and began to expand my services. Since starting my birth doula service I have helped close to 300 couples! In 2009 I again expanded my business to include Postpartum Doula Services and again went to DONA for training and certification. With my kids all grown up now, I enjoy helping new families transition into parenthood, and who wouldn’t like to cuddle with a newborn!

My professional and personal experience includes water birth, hospital and home birth, premature birth, ceasarian birth, VBAC (vaginal birth after ceasarian), twins, natural childbirth as well as women who have chosen an epidural.

As a birth doula, postpartum doula, childbirth educator and mother of three, my passion is to help a woman have the most fulfilling birthing experience possible. I find it an honor to support a family as they prepare to meet their baby and watch them take their first breath, and begin their journey into parenthood, knowing these moments will stay with them forever.
